Asset Building Legislation Succeeds in the State Senate

Several pieces of legislation on the IABG policy roster have passed the State Senate and advanced onto the State House.

SB1993 - Amends the Payday Loan Reform Act to provide consumer protections to all loans over 36% APR.
SB1981 - Provides a tax credit to employers who match their employees’ contributions to pre-paid college savings accounts.
SB1879 - Codifies the prohibition of mortgage steering, protecting minorities from being pushed into high-interest home loans.
SB2566 - Increases the number of foreclosure prevention counselors through the Foreclosure Prevention Counseling Fund.
SB1925 - Allows for Medicaid eligibility for all persons earning under 100% of the Federal Poverty Level.
